This image came to me while reflecting on my favorite ski trips with my family growing up. We would often ski together at the Trapp Family Lodge, and go home for pancakes when the adventure was done. I remember having been out there all day, and heading back home in the dark. The lodge has a trail that runs along a small field of apple trees. We always took that trail back to the parking lot. I always loved watching the trees go by, wiry and wide in the dim light of the moon, as we glided down beside them. This painting brings back the feeling of skiing back to wherever I've been, after the sun has set, and I see the light of windows stretching across the snow toward me...welcoming me back.
